I am terrible with knots, I guess I was not a very good boy scout.
I remember one boy scout camping trip at which we were practicing tying knots one night by the campfire.
One of the kids became really frustrated and threw his section of rope into the fire and said "That rabbit's never coming out of the hole again!". Still makes me smile to remember that.
I grew up with my Grandpa (and to a lesser extent my Dad as well) trying to teach me knots , but I never paid any attention.
